The European swing of the World Tour is over, and it ended with an Indian double in Germany. This week the tour moves to Asia for the final stretch before the World Tour Finals, while at home the November tournament calendar starts to fill up. Here is what happened, what is coming, and what is worth your time.
## Tournaments
### Hylo Open: an Indian singles sweep in Saarbrücken
The Hylo Open (Super 500, October 27 – November 1) finished on Sunday with both singles titles going to India.
- **Women's singles:** PV Sindhu, the second seed, beat Denmark's Line Kjærsfeldt 21-12, 21-14. It is her second World Tour title of 2026 after the Japan Open in July, and it came one week after she finished runner-up to world No. 1 An Se-young at the French Open. - **Men's singles:** Lakshya Sen beat Indonesia's Jonatan Christie, the defending champion in Saarbrücken. - **Men's doubles:** Christian Faust Kjær and Rasmus Kjær (Denmark) beat England's Ben Lane and Sean Vendy. - **Women's doubles:** Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi and Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti (Indonesia) beat Hsu Yin-hui and Lin Jhih-yun. - **Mixed doubles:** Thom Gicquel and Delphine Delrue of France, the reigning world champions, added another title.
That last result is part of a bigger story. France now holds the men's singles and mixed doubles world titles, reached its first Thomas Cup final this year, and won the French Open men's singles on home soil two weeks ago. ### Americans abroad
USA Badminton reports that six U.S. athletes played the French Open, and both U.S. women's doubles pairs reached the round of 16, a solid showing at a Super 750 event.

## Venues

## Learn: is that a fault?
Three rally rules that start arguments at open play, straight from the BWF Laws of Badminton:
1. **Touching the net is a fault**, with your racket, body or clothing, while the shuttle is in play. 2. **Your racket may cross the net on the follow-through**, as long as you first hit the shuttle on your own side. Reaching over to hit it first is a fault. 3. **A "sling" or double touch is a fault**: the same player may not hit the shuttle twice in a row. But if the shuttle hits the frame and the strings in a single stroke, play continues.
## Gear: what the number on the shuttle tube means
Feather shuttles are sold in speeds, usually 75 to 79. A lower number flies slower. The idea is to cancel out the conditions in the hall: warm air and high altitude make a shuttle fly farther, so they call for a lower number, while cold halls call for a higher one. Under the Laws, a shuttle of the correct speed, hit with a full underhand stroke from one back line, should land between 530 mm and 990 mm short of the other back line. As halls cool down this winter, it is worth testing a tube before a long session.
